Could the Civic hatchback be coming to North America?

Posted by Henley Honda

Mar 20, 2015 4:30:00 PM

The Honda models in Europe differ slightly from those in North America. One of the most popular vehicles for quite some time over there is the Honda Civic hatchback. While the market for auto sales in Europe has been somewhat rough lately, Honda is looking for some ways to recoup some of the lost profits. The hatchback Civic is produced in the United Kingdom, and due to the decline in the European market, is only operating at about 40% capacity right now. A solution for this lull in production due to the European market? Look at bringing the vehicle to this side of the pond! At least that’s what a recent report from Nikkei says.

Hinchcliffe in a Civic Si

One of the best parts about summer is the fact that it means it’s time for engines to roar in Toronto. The Indy will be hitting Toronto on July 18th to 20th and is going to be a weekend jam-packed with two full points IndyCar races, festival attractions, games and activities and live entertainment. Honda has a corporate culture and history rooted in racing and has been the title sponsor of the Toronto Indy since 2008. To bring attention to both of these facts,as well as the popular “Checkered Flag” sales event, they’ve leveraged their relationship with IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe and have been featuring him in a commercial showcasing the sales event and the Civic Si.

If you don’t follow racing, you’re probably asking yourself, who is James Hinchcliffe? Don’t worry – we’re here to tell you:

When you are buying a new car, a used vehicle can be one of the best values you will find. With a much lower price tag, finding a used car with relatively low mileage, modern safety and convenience features can be a task and a half. Unless you're looking at a Honda.

Consumer Reports scoured the used car options and compiled a list of the best deals when it comes to 2009-2013 vehicles in different categories. They focused on the models that show the most depreciation from their original retail price and current value but still met Consumer Reports' criteria to be "Recommended." That means despite the depreciation, you are still looking at reliable vehicles that good performance in their tests and average or above average safety scores.

And guess what? Honda has made the list...more than once.
